We were driving from Serengeti to Lake Manyara and spent about 6 hours in Ngorongoro. Ngorongoro is located in Tanzania and is the largest crater in the world.Ngorngoro is an amazing place to find a large variety of birds including many waterbirds, raptors and a large number of wilderbeast, zebras and lions.

Raptors

In Ngorongoro we saw many raptors and especialy vultures. We saw the Hooded,Lappet Faced, White Rumped and the Rüppels Vulture in just about 4 hours. We saw vultures eating a buffalo carcass and just as we were about to move our jeep an African Hobby Flew past it. We just had 3 Minutes left and we had stopped to see an African Fish Eagle and Augur Buzzard. We drove at a high speed while rushing up the crater and reached the gate with just 1 minute left.

Waterbirds

When we further drove into the crater we came across a lake which had a huge number of waterbirds includingTeals, Flamingos, and Pelicans. We stayed there for about an hour and wre photographing watching the birds. Then we drove to another place where we were told there was an African Openbill and an African Spoobill. When we reached the spot we only saw an African Spoonbill. We also saw a Cape and Northern Shoveler and a Hottenetot Teal which was a new bird for us.
